Nutrition Focused Physical Exams

A comprehensive, hands-on assessment to support personalized nutrition care and functional wellness.

What is a Nutrition Focused Physical Exam?

A Nutrition Focused Physical Exam (NFPE) is a specialized clinical evaluation that helps identify signs of nutrient deficiencies, inflammation, and other underlying imbalances that may impact your health. This assessment bridges the gap between nutrition and medical care, offering deeper insights that inform your personalized treatment plan.

Conducted by our Nurse Practitioner

Our Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner provides this service in person at our Grand Island location. During your 45-minute consultation, she will perform a full nutrition-focused physical exam, which may include:

  • Evaluation of muscle and fat stores

  • Skin, hair, and nail assessments

  • Hydration status

  • Gastrointestinal and oral health markers

  • Signs of micronutrient deficiencies

Following the assessment, your NP will share her findings with your Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) to ensure a coordinated, collaborative care plan. An appointment with one of our RDNs is required before scheduling.

Optional Testing & Additional Services

If clinically appropriate, your NP may recommend additional lab work, including diagnostic testing through Quest Diagnostics, billed to your insurance. This may help further evaluate metabolic function, inflammation, or other relevant health markers.

If you’re interested in exploring advanced nurse practitioner services, you’re welcome to discuss your needs during your visit.

A Collaborative Approach to Care

Nutrition Focused Physical Exams enhance the overall quality of your care by ensuring that your treatment plan is based on both subjective goals and objective clinical data. This hands-on, whole-body assessment is a valuable step in achieving more precise and effective outcomes.
